Actor Biography
Born in 1940 in Derbyshire, England, John Hurt studied acting at RADA. For nearly half a century, Hurt has acted in numerous international film, television and theatre productions, among them The Naked Civil Servant, I, Claudius, A Man for All Seasons, The Caretaker, Man and Superman, Midnight Express and The Elephant Man, earning Oscar nominations and BAFTAs for the latter two. Other major film performances include Alien, Nineteen Eighty-Four, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Hellboy, Hellboy II, Scandal, Shooting Dogs and The Hit (in which he starred with Terence Stamp).
